The World Cup of the factoids

The best player of South Africa'10 in action -
june, 17th, Argentina x South Korea

As the World Cup in South Africa progressed, it became more and more evident that the protagonist was someone who excelled in the tentacles. It was not the Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar, the Italian Buffon or the Spanish Casillas. The being with thousand arms who got to stand out in the World Cup was an English octopus "naturalized" German, named Paul, made famous by the overall hit on his predictions about the matches of the World Cup (besides him, only the New Zealand team finished the tournament unbeaten.) Paul did not "lost" any match and, moreover, equaled the campaigns of the Brazil Seleção in 1970 and 2002, when they "also" won it all.

Besides Paul, also shone in the World Cup Paraguay's Larissa Riquelme, more attractive than any Cup match, Mick Jagger, who gave full meaning to the verses of Satisfaction, "I can't get no satisfaction / But I try", and Jabulani, the ball, mistreated and ill-spoken.

Among the footballers, players a priori of this World, but not a posteriori, the one who provided further subsidies for discussion was Felipe Melo, the midfielder of Neanderthal. Forlan, Villa, Sneijder, Müller & Co. produced no memorable shot among those who, in 50 years, will make the kids hold their breath with what they're seeing (as happens with goals from Pelé and Maradona nowadays). By the way: the (former) most outstanding player in the World Cup was perhaps precisely Diego, and moment with the greatest impact of the tournament, the skill demonstrated, his "chaleira", in suit and shoes, on the edge of the field in Argentina x South Korea, on June 17.

Perhaps it's a case for Maradona leave his shoes polished and get back to cleats. Forlan, be wary.
